IREX Foundation and the Romania Green Building Council (ROGBC) are pleased to announce that the local library in Cacica, Suceava, is the winner of EcoBiblioteca (Green Library) contest.
Cacica library will be renovated sustainably as part of the EcoBiblioteca initiative through the efforts of RoGBC and will be equipped with computer hardware and software for free public access to information through the Biblionet program, implemented by IREX. In this context, the library will benefit from the donation of building materials and labor from RoGBC and its partners, and equipment and training through Biblionet program.
Renovation of the library of Cacica will begin on August 30, 2010. Joining in the effort to create a sustainable development model for communities with less than 5,000 members from Romania, EcoBiblioteca initiative sets out to promote energetic efficiency and resource economy in construction and renovation of libraries.
EcoBiblioteca is a partnership between Biblionet and Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC), which aims to foster responsible behavior toward the environment among librarians, the local authorities and Romanian citizens in general.
