eSkills Week 2010: launch of www.e-aptitudini.ro portal
www.e-aptitudini.ro went live on Monday, March the 1st, 2010, as part of the European eSkills Week 2010 campaign. A Consortium formed of Junior Achievement Romania, Fundatia Nadia Comaneci, EOS Foundation - Educating for an Open Society, Civitas Foundation for the Civil Society, the ecentre.ro network, Hai pe net! (Come on over the Internet!), the Association of the IT&C Equipment Producers and Distributors in Romania, EurActiv, the National Association of the Public Librarians and Libraries in Romania, BiblioNet and Microsoft Romania launched this e-skills programme in Romania, in October 2009. e-aptitudini is a programme that was designed in response to the evolution of the current society. An International Data Corporation survey titled “Post-crisis: e-Skills are needed to Drive Europe's Innovation Society” states that in Romania, over the next five years, 90% of the jobs in any line of work will involve some level of IT knowledge, which will turn skills, IT training sessions and IT education in a priority for all employers. For that matter, www.e-aptitudini.ro is the venue where demand meets educational supply. This portal is also an important guide for all community members, regardless of their age, education and profession, who will have an opportunity to visit a systematic database of courses and educational resources that are available nationally in the line of training and improving the skills that people need in order to use computers and IT technology in general. Please view the statement of Mr. Dragos Adrian Neagu, first vice-president of the National Association of Public Libraries in Romania, who speaks about how this association has involved itself in the project and how it will benefit librarians.
