The IREX team has established a collaboration strategy with Peace Corps Romania to the end of leveraging efforts to increase the joint impact of Biblionet and Peace Corps programs for long term sustainability. IREX and Peace Corps Romania have agreed on areas of involvement of Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs) in IREX’ Biblionet program.

Peace Corps Romania boasts volunteers in the twelve counties and ten of the local communities selected by IREX  for the first round. The first activity to be conducted jointly has been a mapping exercise in order to match PC resources according to their four main areas of service with Biblionet library sites and their potential needs.

In addition to the four areas of collaboration, namely TEFL, with focus on computer literacy, Community Economic Development, Youth Development, and Environmental Education, IREX and Peace Corps Romania have identified novel activities to pilot test in libraries with the involvement of the energetic PCVs. Such a type of activity is public librarians’ orientation in expanding modern library services, utilizing the volunteers’ expertise.
