Program Development Department
The Program Development Department’s team is responsible for developing a modern public library network and for implementing the Biblionet program.
Among these responsibilities are:
• Design the Biblionet program strategy
• Design the Application package (Online Application form and Application Guide)
• Design the selection process which includes developing the selection criteria and scorecard
• Coordinate, together with the Procurement Department and the Training Department, the activities related to establishment of Training Centers in county libraries, the activities of training of librarians and the activities of procurement of personal computers with free public access to internet in public libraries.
• Monitor and evaluate the activities of public libraries and of librarians, activities that will lead to developing new and modern library services for the communities where these public libraries are located.
The team of the Program Development Department collaborates with all the departments of the Biblionet program to restructure the public library systems through free access to computers and Internet offered to communities through informed and skilled librarians.
The department is made up of specialists in program design and program implementation and a team of regional coordinators.
Advocacy -
The Advocacy Team boasts PR, institutional capacity, library, and advocacy skills, which will foster and increase librarians’ advocacy capacity by integrating outreach and public relations into their roles with training and support.
Specifically, the Advocacy team will:
- Equip librarians with communication and advocacy tools to readily demonstrate how libraries positively impact their communities.
- Help build institutional capacity for ANBPR to provide a national framework for library advocacy, so as to result in an association that directs efforts at the national level while providing ongoing guidance and support to local librarians.
- Provide direct training and technical assistance to ANBPR, with focus on issues related to organizational assessments, developing fundraising and board capacity, improving service delivery, developing a fully functioning executive body.
- Coordinate and conduct advocacy training for ANBPR, county and local librarians.
- Help develop an advocacy strategy which focuses on county libraries as the link between local libraries and national policy makers.
- Create the support structures necessary to address long-term sustainability by increasing the capacity of county librarians to promote libraries and to collect and interpret relevant data.
Training / Formare -
IREX’s training team focuses on training needs identification and analysis and on the professional instruction of librarians with the view of developing and strengthening those library services which answer best to communities and patrons requests. For train of trainers and IT/PACM courses, IREX’s training team works in partnership with EOS (Education for an Open Society) from Timisoara.
Specifically, the training team deals with:
- design, delivery and evaluation for the train of trainers course;
- design, delivery and evaluation of IT/PACM course;
- developing new competencies for librarians;
- design and delivery of new courses or educational events aimed at optimizing the interaction between librarians and their patrons;
- training in new library services;
- training courses accreditation.
